Re: Rocker arm shaft cleaning.

Got the heads and the new arm shaft assemblies back today. The intake had a bad tube from the intake to water pump. Trying to track a new one down then will start reassembly. If I pulled the motor I'd be down another summer so I'm thinking I'll just put her back together and do a full rebuild over w...

Re: Rocker arm shaft cleaning.

That's a good question Dan. My machine shop guy found a set from a distributor. They don't make the towers anymore so you have to send in your set or pay an extra $50 a side if you dont send your old ones in. IDK how important the function of the towers is aside from holding down the tubes but I thi...

Re: Rocker arm shaft cleaning.

Lack of oil from clogged tube has caused friction from the rockers to the tube. There were groves on the bottom of the tube where the rockers sat. Ordering a new set.

Re: Rocker arm shaft cleaning.

My tubes were caked with old oil and crud. The rockers came off easy but the supports having a tighter ID did not come off easily. Each set of rockers and keepers I took off I would clean and lube the shaft as I went (starting to sound like grammas cowboy novels) but I couldn't get them off without ...

Rocker arm shaft cleaning.

Took apart a rocker arm shaft for cleaning and it was a real nightmare to get off and subsequently get it back together. Manual doesn't say much on it. Anyone run into this? I'd rather not take anything off the ends but I don't see ant way to avoid it. I cleaned and lubed everything but maybe the en...

Blown Head Gasket

My '66 LCC came up with a blown head gasket. I pulled the heads and took them to the shop. Shop says heads are good and are just going to put in hardened exhaust seats, valve job, seals. I am debating pulling the block and taking it in to be gone through, new bearings, cam lifters, ect. If I pull th...

Re: Radiator cap overflowed

I pulled the heads and sent them off to the shop to be gone through. It was surprisingly not that difficult to get them out. When I was taking them to my car my neighbor who is a Mustang guy said "thems some big f@#%ing heads!" I had to LOL. I'd post pics but i cant figure out how to forma...

Re: Radiator cap overflowed

At this point I'm debating pulling the motor and trans. I could rebuild the motor and have the trans gone through. While thats at the shop I could paint the engine bay, replace the heater core and do a few odds and ends while I'm at it (brake booster rebuild and finish the dual master conversion). A...

I’m not sure what all I’ll need. I know I will need at least the passenger side of the piece pictured.

Replacing top frame?

I am considering buying a parts car with a seemingly intact top. The top on my '66 LCC has broken a few pieces and I was wondering if it would be better to replace the broken pieces or to swap the frames. I can get the car for fairly cheap and if a swap would be better I'd just buy this parts car. H...

Re: Radiator cap overflowed

I'll flush the system and heater core next. I'll throw some of that system flush in it maybe for a few days. I'll try to heat the car up every day and see if anything changes. Other than that I have no clue what to do. This issue could be why the valve going to the heater was not in the correct plac...

Yes the pump is brand new. Is that not how it is supposed to look when functioning properly?

Re: Radiator cap overflowed

I ran her for about 10mns with the cap off. It looks like im getting flow and the temp in the tank was 170-185F. I put the cap on it and drove about a mile. I drove it much harder than i normally do. The cap held. I turned the heat on, I don't remember ever using it before) and it blew air but not s...
