61-63 Stainless Trim Removal - help!
Thanks to both you and Willard. I was speaking of the stainless trim that runs front to rear on both sides, and yes, it can be damaged if not removed properly. thanks for the advice. I will pass the info on to the firm doing the re-paint and leave it up to them to remove it or not. Frankly, I think ...

61-63 Stainless Trim Removal - help!
I'm about to have my '63 convertible repainted. I agreed to remove as much trim as possible to reduce labor cost. What is the proper way to remove the stainless trim running from front to back without damaging it? the trim could use professional polishing, too.
Any help would be really welcome!

Looking for 61-63 Carpet Set
Welcome to the camp, I guess you all know why we're here; my name is _______ and I became aware this year... Sorry for the musical reference, The carpet supplied by Lincoln Parts International fits wonderfully in my '63 convertible. The only obvious seam is a nicely stitched hem down the transmissio...

Wood trim on doors and glove box
A few years ago I had a 61 sedan with light cream or beige interior and aluminum door trim. The steering wheel and all dash knobs were matching cream ( beige). I replace the door panels and steering wheel with a walnut detailed set I had from a wrecked 62, so I still have a color-coded wheel and kno...

Looking for 61-63 Carpet Set
As I'm the one who started this topic, I thought I'd let you all know that 1) today I received my refund from Baker's Auto for the carpet set I returned, and 2) Lincoln Parts International had to return the material they ordered to build my carpet set. LPI ordered unbacked carpeting in hopes of solv...

Looking for 61-63 Carpet Set
The problem with the carpet Baker's sent me was (1) they use cheap modern loop carpet rathter than the more plush (and expensive) type used in the 50's and 60's and (2) the front floor section, rather than one large piece, molded to fit over the transmission hump, had a rectangular insert sewn into ...

Thanks for the help so far. And Mark, I'll keep you in mind if I need a middleman. And Maggie, I have a whole bunch of Schaapman's in my family on my mother's side. Wonder if we're related?
Keep those cards and letters coming.

Looking for 61-63 Carpet Set
Last week I received a carpet set for my 63 convertible from Baker Auto. It's so pathetic I've got to return it. Does any one supply a repro set using real 1960's style heavy loop material with the front floor section made in ONE PIECE, MOLDED to go over the transmission hump, rather than several pi...

4 out of 5 times this happens to my '63, it's been because the deck lock limit switch was out of adjustment. The deck lid unlocks, but then just sits there, or sometimes bumps up and down. A second person lifting on the deck lid at the passanger side while you continue to pull the dash handle might ...

Did I pay too much??
I'm sure John Cashman can fix it. Hopefully for much less than $2500. Question: didn't you notice the windows and deck lid weren't working when you bought the car? Just curious.

Sorry smokey,
As Dan suggests, adjust it DOWNWARD just a tad. This is what happens from being a left-handed backwards thinking person

Smokey, Have you solved the problem yet? You don't say what model year you own, but try this... It sounds like what I've experienced from time to time. The (what I call) lift switch is slightly out of adjustment. With someone in the car pulling the top-up handle, go to the passanger side of the car,...

I drive daily a '63 convertible, triple black, since 1983. It's a two-time LCOC western meet award winner. Love this car like the family pet. Here's a QUESTION and a maintenance HINT... QUESTION: What is the verticle truck space available for storing luggage without luggage coming into contact with ...
