Re: 72 Mark IV - replacing windshield

After my experience with replacing the vinyl roof ($$$$$), I would paint it too.

'70 Mark III seat problems

About a year ago I had both front power seats (six way) working well. Now the driver seat will only move in three directions and the passenger seat in five directions. Since the seat motors are getting power and moving, I have to guess that the switches are the problem. Is this a correct assumption?...

the car was sold to someone else who actually wants to restore it, I wish him luck as I thought it was a bit gone for that.

'70 Mark III parts car

I have a chance to buy a non-running '70 Mark III for $500. The vehicle looks to be in fairly good condition (California car, no rust), and all the original parts are one the car. It has never been chopped up or parted. I am thinking of buying it and parting it out....my question is.....do any of yo...

Classic Exhaust (www.classicexhaust.com) or Waldron's (www.waldronexhuast.com) should have exactly what you need.

Re: 72 Mark IV-Autoline 4300 wits end

I agree with Dan, got a 1406 in my Mark III and it is perfect. Finding a guy that can re-build a 47 year old carb is getting hard to find. (finding a guy that knows what a carb is, is hard to find)

When you jump the motor directly from a battery it might also help to tap the motor with a rubber mallet....seriously, it worked for me!

Re: Lincolns and typical value

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but who in God's name is shelling out this kind of money for vehicles that need a good bit of work? I'm guessing that there is "new money" around and the people that have it really know very little about collector cars.

If you are lucky and the car has not been molested, you might find a build sheet under the rear bottom seat cushion.

Re: What is the "Special Body Finish" option on '69 MK III

If your car does not have a vinyl top (and came from the factory without one), I would be willing to bet that is what the "Special Body Finish" refers to. You can find some threads on the smooth top Mark III's on this forum. The top had to be finished differently (and pulled from the assem...

Re: Where's the love for 1958-1960 Lincolns?

I think these cars are beautiful, especially as convertibles. When I was a kid in Los Angeles, the lady across the street from us had a massive, black '60 Mark V 4 door hardtop, I swear that car made my Dad's '64 Coupe de Ville look delicate. As far as why they aren't discussed much, it must have to...

Re: parts and stuff to grab before junking Mark III

As a guide for you, I just purchased the right rear tail light assembly for a '70 Mark III from Ebay that was not in great shape, the chrome was pitted and the red lens was very weathered, no matter though as I only really wanted the inside metal assembly which was in good shape. I paid $65 for it a...
