Re: Creamy '79 Mark V
Brake pedal went soft the other day, like real soft. Fluid was low but not empty in the reservoir. Topping off the reservoir didn't fix the problem. I couldn't find any leaks in the brake system, checking all four calipers, master cylinder, reservoir and as much of the lines as i could get to withou...

Re: 1978 460 radiator question.
If 3 rows are more common now, the 2 row is lower production and more dear.78_towncar_460 wrote:I can't understand why a more complex 3 core design would be $60 cheaper.
I can remember replacing a Subaru turbo's 1 row radiator with a 2 row and it didn't cost more than a 1 row would have.

Re: Creamy '79 Mark V
Thanks finsrin! I will pick up some new hose clamps and swap them in next time I notice the leak. Transmission problems are no longer evident. Took a longer drive last night and it shifts perfectly into 2nd and 3rd, no more 'warm-up' period when driving this morning either. Some guy working construc...

Absolutely beautiful car. The wire wheels look similar to the ones on my '79 Mark V. You have a good point that they make the car appear so much lighter. Hard to put your finger on it but that's one of the effects.

How's this one coming along? Got any pictures? I still love the 73-74 coupes the best.

Re: Creamy '79 Mark V
The car stopped shifting entirely out of first. "2" still works to get to second but that's not really driveable to me. After a month parked, I remembered to double check and found the transmission fluid low. There was a puddle under the car. Fluid level was at the bottom of the dipstick w...

Re: Noticed a vibration today in 76 Mark IV
Start with the fronts. You can put the front up on jackstands and play with the wheels to figure out if the wheel bearings are the problem.

Re: Creamy '79 Mark V
Transmission is not shifting out of first until warmed up. This just started in the last couple weeks. It does work ok when warmed up, after a few minutes. Vacuum to the transmission hasn't been messed with. Fluid is black and I'm scared to change it. No leaks. Last service on transmission is unknow...

Re: Another Dumb Question
There's a special distributor wrench that you can use if that tie down bolt is hard to reach (it is hard on my 400 with A/C and California emissions). Supposedly most bolts should only need a half turn or so.
