Re: 1967 Lincoln Continental stalling when warm
Glad you got it going. The condensor could also cause a problem like this.

Re: 49 Cosmo Sport Sedan
The windows and seat originally used brake fluid to operate them. Some people rebuilt the system and replaced the brake fluid with hydraulic fluid. The brake system on some cars was cleaned and refilled with DOT 5 Silicone brake fluid. You need to check out both systems to determine what has been do...

Re: 1967 Lincoln Continental stalling when warm
It sounds like your coil may be failing. You have just about eliminated all fuel caused failures, so I would try a new coil.

Ivan, I appreciate that you would like to scan and catalog the books yourself, but that is a large task that has been done and the results made available at a reasonable cost. Are you sure that you have the time to scan all of the books, catalog the pages and still hav time to enjoy working on your ...

Lee, I have never used Regulator Roy, but have seen good reports on other Forums. He specializes in NOS regulators. Ivan, try to find a Body Parts Catalog for your car or ask someone in the LCOC if they can give you the P/N needed. There are several Cosmopolitins in the RRLR also, but I can't give y...

It might be your automatic choke setting is too rich. Try moving it one notch towards lean. If that doesn't fix it, you will have to diagnose it in the driveway. Look for fuel dribbling down the throat of the carb or a bind in the choke mechanism.

Re: 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Sport 4dr Lucille
The 1949 - 1951 Mercury had front vent windows. I doubt that the mechanism will interchange with the 1949 Cosmopolitan as the bodies and doors were completely different. Here is a drawing of the 1953-1953 Lincoln door parts showing the vent window mechanism. It is different than yours, but it will g...

Re: Re-lubricating seat tracks.
This is pretty late to the game, but I want to add my thought about the lube. Lubriplate tends to harden after a few years, so I stopped using it back in the 1980's. I was using a synthetic lube used on electric typewriters until Syl-glide came to my attention. I used it on my Mercury seat tracks an...

Re: Pertronix I - no start (new) on 460, video w/voltage
I like to check for a good spark by removing the coil wire from the distributor and holding it near a good ground, like the intake or block, then crank the engine over with the starter. You should get a blue spark about 1/4" to 1/2" long. I suspect that the weak spark shown in the video is...

Re: Plug and play ‘77 muffler?
Drill a drain hole in the front and rear of the muffler to make it last longer. 1/8" or 3/16" work

Re: Cleaning exterior and interior on a '82 Mark VI
I have tried the waterless wash products and have found that they do not do as good a job as a good hand wash and a slightly better job of cleaning the car than a good detail spray. You seem to like Meguiers products, so you might consider staying with them. I use the professional series on my 2 car...

Re: 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Sport 4dr Lucille
It looks like you have stated the correct solution to your problem. You should have 2 of the long bolts. Feel around on the end of the starter for the other long bolt. To use the Fulton type sun visor on your Cosmopolitan you need to use a roof bracket made for 1 piece windshields. This screws into ...

The P/N appears to be 357578-s8. I have no idea where you could get new ones. Try the Lincoln Mercury Old Parts store in FL. French Lake auto parts in MN had a few 52-55 Lincolns and may have one with the headliner still intact. You would have to call them. If you Google the P/N you can see an onlin...

Re: 1954 Lincoln Lighting Circuit
It sounds like you have a short. The wires to the tail lights are routed under the step plates at the doors on my 53, the 54 may be the same. After years of stepping on them, one or more wires may have lost some insulation. On my car, the CBs are located on the left side of the instrument cluster. I...

Re: 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Sport 4dr Lucille
Building a wiring harness requires a lot more than knowing how to cut and strip wires, soldering on connectors and using zip ties to hold the wires in place. If you insist on building your own harness, I suggest that you get the engineering diagram of the engine and dash wiring harness from the Ford...
