I found out how to restore the rubber ribbing on the accelerator pedal if anyone is interested. It involves using some of the ribbed rubber that you find in the carpet runner areas at big box stores.

Of all the Lincoln specialists out there, there must be one somewhere.

Why not buy good used from a parts car? Bound to be many out there available. Polish up the frame and replace the ribbing to make it like new.

Very possibly normal behavior. The late 60s cars with ATC also chattered when they reached/around the set temperature. Not sure when the system was redesigned, but probably same basic system.
