Re: Conversions: Post your modified Lincoln Pics here!

Only 69s could be ordered without vinyl, from my recollection. Only about 95 or so produced.

Re: 1974 headlight switch

I’ve heard of people spraying lubricant of some kind into the vacuum ports on these headlight switches to “reinvigorate” the seals. Never tried myself. Sounds like a temp solution, but who knows…. The headlight doors on my Mark III stayed down for almost eleven months. When I started to use the car ...

Re: Second opinion. 462 rebuild?

To add to the discussion, you can pretty much recondition everything on a MEL short of a cam grind/new pistons for under $5,000. If on a budget you could do even cheaper. Nothing comparable as far as budget on a complete swap with something else. When I got done with the 462 in my ‘67 sedan it was j...

Re: Second opinion. 462 rebuild?

Not only that, the LS engine is a slug. I don't agree with this at all.... Modern late model muscle cars are heavier, more reliable, more efficient, and much faster then any factory muscle cars of the 60s... remember the 6.0 LS engine is used in the 2500 and 3500 trucks so it makes more then enough...

Re: Second opinion. 462 rebuild?

The 462 is built like a brick shit house. Anyone that tells you that they are unreliable is ignorant. Any engine that has been neglected and not maintained is going to have problems. Dried out seals, stale fluids, blah blah. Also not sure where the false perception that there is no parts support com...

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal

I found out how to restore the rubber ribbing on the accelerator pedal if anyone is interested. It involves using some of the ribbed rubber that you find in the carpet runner areas at big box stores.

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal

Why not buy good used from a parts car? Bound to be many out there available. Polish up the frame and replace the ribbing to make it like new.

Re: 00 Continental performance

The limiting factor with this car is the transmission. It is a warmed over version from the Taurus that was barely adequate to begin with. Strap a marginal transmission onto a V8 and you're already pushing your luck with the stock 275hp. Agree with Chevy on this one. If you want a performance car wi...

Re: Heater noise

Very possibly normal behavior. The late 60s cars with ATC also chattered when they reached/around the set temperature. Not sure when the system was redesigned, but probably same basic system.
