I just hope you picture hosting is robust because if not hosted on the forum the links will go dead in the future. Thanks Dan, I fixed that broken link and added 2 pictures. This image host has been stable for the last 10 years at least. If it ever goes down, I have saved everything : I'll fix ever...

Headlight Upgrade - with a little something extra.....angelic?
Last year, I was wa tching this interesting video where a classic Chevrolet Impala was ambitiously converted to electric. In the same video one could also get a glimpse of the car's nice halo headlights (AKA " angel eyes ") ... Made by Dapper . https://i.imgur.com/4xCeGX5.jpg They do look...

Re: Where to hook vacuum advance
I bypassed the switch to use full-time ported vacuum, and "overheating issues" are less likely with a 3-pass aluminium radiator which runs significantly cooler, at least according to the gauge.

Re: Gray interior on a 70/71 Continental (non-Mark)
I just don't see gray in the early examples. Indeed.... After playing a bit with color correction, I have come to the conclusion that the seemilgly "grey" pictures I posted earlier are most likely of the ACTUAL following colors: 1974 sample: Light yellow gold, poor camera 1972 sample: &qu...

Went through the picture collection and found some more rarities from the grey zone. From a 1974 sedan, unknown trim code. https://i.imgur.com/daEl4h5.jpg From a 1972 coupe, trim code "CY" "Light gray gold" https://i.imgur.com/xr84Vaa.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Bo8lVrs.jpg https://i...

That "medium gray" seems to be as rare as pope droppings.

Re: 1156 Lighbulbs no good?
But the "DC" variety has the same BA15D base with dual contacts. In the incandescent world, 1076 has ~23w, whereas 1156 has ~27w despite having the same brightness. However with LEDS, actual brightnesses are all over the place. https://www.bulbs.com/product/1156DC https://www.bulbs.com/pro...

Re: 1156 Lighbulbs no good?
Just to be clear, since your back-up socket seems to have dual contacts, both 1156DC and 1076 would fit.

Re: 1156 Lighbulbs no good?
It's not about size.
The numbers (1156, 1157, 1076) refer to different standards of socket.
The "1076" bulbs your car requires (or BA15D) have two bottom contacts of the correct polarity and the correct pin alignments, precisely to avoid putting the wrong bulb in the wrong place.

Re: Fuel pump installation (460, 1970)
Even though I will likely get some hex bolts like Dan mentioned above, I wanted to point out that by leaving the OEM bolt flat against the pump during insertion, one CAN fit(by a hair) a regular 9/16 socket in that spot.

That's brilliant!!Dan Szwarc wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 5:50 am Actually, I suggest you replace the bolts with socket cap screws/bolts and use a long hex key or Allen socket. It will allow you to get around the large part of the fuel pump easily.

Re: Fuel pump installation (460, 1970)
Put the crank at TDC. Thanks Dan... that helped. But, even at top dead center the new pump doesn't go in straight without having to fight the lever spring a little. This means, one must hold the pump forcefully straight while also turning the bolts. Not the easiest thing. Very little room in there ...
