Timing gear retard
Stutz. You asked "how do us novices know when we have the correct timing sets for a stock cam?" when installing a new cam you can degree the cam and compare it to the specs for that cam stock or otherwise. You need some tools though. A degree wheel, dial indicator, and a piston stop that s...

What needs to be done for 500 hp from a 460?
I agree that 500 hp is very reachable. The only concern that I have is teh use of teh engine compared to the use intended by teh builder. For example, a big cam or big single plane intake will boost hp but will sacrifice the low end torque that a street use car may need. If the shop that built teh e...

lifting the engine the inch I need for manifold
I think I will disconnect the trans mount dan just to be safe. thanks. I feel kind of silly though. I think that it will move fine. As I watched the first car I worked on today raise on the lift I watched the wheels lower in relation to the frame as the car rose up. THEN IT HIT ME! I never unloaded ...

lifting the engine the inch I need for manifold
Thanks for all the typing. I have done everything that is mentiond here. I guess there is a chance that the engine mounts have become stuck to the frame over the last 37 years, because they are free and when I use a jack under the oil pan the whole front end lifts not the engine. I will take a look ...

I have been waiting to put in my new passenger side exhaust manifold on my 430. I have finnaly removed the two IMPOSIBLE to get bolts on the bottom of the manifold, and disconnected teh exhaust pipe. I also took the two bolts holding the engine mounts to the frame loose. It was getting dark and when...

Horn not working?
You can start at the horn switch but it may be easier to start by checking the power into the horn with the switch depressed first. Less to take apart. If you have power it is either the horn or the ground for it. simple enough. I only say this because I started at the wheel and worked out only to f...

Instrument voltage regulator - 64 LCC
I beleive that the CVR is in the same place on your 64 as my 65. It is reachable from the underside of the dash but NOT EASILY. It is a small rectanglular silver peice mounted right behind the gauges on the dash and visible from below. I was unable to put it back in its place after it had been remov...

Willard is correct the 65 does not have a relay. It does have a 30 amp circiut behind teh passenger side kick panel. I do not know if the 64 is wired like my 65 but I spent lots of time takeing aprt panels and looking throughout the system before I realized that I had missed the easiest thing to che...

steering gear bushings for 65 lcc
When I purchased my 65 the first thing that went wrong was those bushings. that is the 3 between the frame and the steering gear. It did not damage my pitman arm but it did cause the gear to wiggle against the pitman arm untill the lower seal on the gear box broke and I was going through a quart of ...
