Re: 1978 MArk 5 8k Original miles. Out of fuel? At a half ta
There is a bend in the fuel pick-up tube inside the fuel tank, If the car has sat a long time a drop of moisture will condense there causing it to rust a hole in the tube. I had this happen on a 77 Mark V. you will need a new fuel tank pick-up tube. Mine also ran out at half a tank. The 78 and 79 pi...

Re: Starter Motor issue - just getting a single click
Check the voltage on the solenoid on both the large terminals. If it reads the same on both side with the key in the start position you have either a cable problem or starter problem. Check that you have 12 volts at the starter and a good ground. If you have both then you have a starter problem.

Your bushing was too large or the striker was not adjusted correctly .

Re: Adjusting door on Mark V
The washer does NOT come off on the Mark V's. In the help section at the parts house you can get the correct replacement striker with the bushing on it. I have replaced them on all 5 of my Mark V's with no trouble.

Check and make sure it is gas in the carb and not water. Some of the gas we have now will draw water in the tank and then you will pump it into the carb.

Re: Connie is kicking my a**
Check the mudule on the fender. It will go bad and start missing and then not enough spark to start the engine. Also check the pick-up in the distributor they will go bad and start on time and not the next then start again. Get a paper towel and out it down the Carb throat and pump the gas a few tim...

It is in your picture. On the main block on that raised flat rectangular area in front of the water tube that is in the center of the cylinder assembly.

Re: 1978 Mark V Top trim molding removable and opera windows
The trim has studs and if you have the sunroof it also must come down to get to the studs that hold the trim. Get a windshield glass man to cut out the side glass and pick a warm day or have it in a heated garage. The side glass comes out from inside the car so you inside sail panels need to be remo...

They have studs made on them and nuts inside, get a small mirror and look up from the inside of the car and you will see them. If you need pictures let me know, I have one apart right now.

Re: Rust repair under vinyl top
You have to check the cloth on the backside of the top at an edge that can be hidden under trim, if the cloth is good I wet the top with Hydraulic oil every day for about a week. Then I use a plastic putty knife and start lifting the top and go a lot bigger than the place that needs to be repaired. ...

On a good top I soften them with Hydraulic oil for about a week before removing and have not had to replace one yet.

Re: Replicating that "blue" stuff on new tires
One of my 77 Mark V's has the original spare with the parting film still on it. It has yellowed with age but looks like it was green. That ( Blue coating ) is parting film that lets the tire release from the mold.

Re: 59 left rear shock mount explosion
Look at the other side, if it has not been butchered then you have the opposite pattern to reconstruct that side. If the car is uni-body it should bolt thru the floor, if it has a frame it should bolt to the frame.

Re: No start - 1970 Mark III
Clean the points or replace the points and condenser and set the points at .0017, if the condenser is weak or your points are corroded you will still get enough spark to make a timing light blink but not enough for it to start.
